With one political convention behind us and another still ahead,I find myselftired ofall
the politics. I believe the politicians of this country will tell us anything we want to hear
to get into office; "Yes, I'll endorse women's rights....Yes, I'll help the middle class
taxpayer..Yes,I'll work to change the laws in your favor(whoever you are)...No,I won't
raise taxes (that's the classic)..." but once they get into office, everything runs in the
same old ruts as always.
I recently attended a corporate meeting that addressed Political Action Committees
(PAC's),now I've attended these meetings before,but this one left me mad as hell. Not
only did they want my money for this conservative organization,but their lobbyistdidn t
talk about issues, he talked about all the"homosexuals and drunks" that grace the Texas
Legislature in Austin. To explain PAC's the way they were explained at this meeting(in
the conservative fashion),everyone gives a little money to the PAC(that way no one has
to give alot) and then the PAC makes donations to certain political candidate's
campaigns.Once the PAC"gives",that candidate is more likely to lend an ear when the
organization you support has an interest in a bill that is before the legislature.
Now,if"paying" for laws sounds like so much bull to you - it is! But that, my friends,
is how the system works.The only way we are going to bring change to our community
is with money,because unfortunately,that is the key to the American political system.
Donations are something easily put-off, but the next time you pay your bills just make
a check out to the PAC committee in your area. It takes a few minutes, but it is time and
money well spent. It is for your future and the future of the lesbian/gay community.

Hospital with AIDS Discrimination

of beds used by persons with AIDS at

she was sleeping with the same time as
me has been diagnosed as HIV positive.

First off,tell your lover.I can definitely
understand your being "chicken", but

from a lover. It directly affects her and
you should sit down and explain the
entire situation immediately.
As I see it, perhaps the best option
available to you, Kay and your lover
may be to seek counseling. You could
also choose testing, but this is strictly
your decision. Weight it carefully.
Unfortunately, the lesbian community
has lulled itself into believing that they
are somehow mysteriously immune to
the AIDS
virus. AIDS does not
discriminate and the sooner we decide
that lesbians aren't special or
superhuman the better for all
concerned. Safe sex is for everyone.
The "free" love of the sixties and
seventies is over, at least for a long,

A Discussion of the "One-Night Stand"

Once,a long time ago,when I was much younger,much thinner and just
aut of the cioset, I was a novelty in the bar in my hometown. Of course,
there was only one bar and i was the youngest of it's patrons, i suppose
youth, in itself, was enough to moke me "desirable". Every time the bar
closed I wasswamped with offers of breakfast,after-hours parties and sex
(only the most forthright would actually state this as their goal).

time, as well as, a "trick" every
now and then. Of course, this

found out,and by then there were

It's young love and our first trip. We are
traveling in two vehicles, me in the truck
with the camper, Jean in the car. We are
headed for my favorite lake to camp and
fish.Our first stop is atmy Aunt's to borrow
