Thanksgiving is the start of "cooking
season" — that time of the year when
you are cooking for the holidays,taking
food to work for lunchtime potlucks,or
just cooking up a bowl of soup to keep

and kitchen tips should help make your
shopping, cooking, food storage and
reach the checkout stand.
• Try to shop only once a week instead
of stopping by the Supermarket every
day. When you stop in for just one or
two items, you usually leave with four
or five. Shopping all at once can help
keep impulse buying at a minimum.

As emcee for Saturday evening's con

use a bit of visual enhancement against
the night sky, I purchased flash paper
from my local neighborhood magic
shop, flash paper is exactly what it
sounds like: little strips of tissue paper
treated with a special chemical that
makes it flash when it's ignited. The
effect is very David Copperfield, but
hey — if it's good enough for Claudia
Schiffer, it's good enough for me.

certainly disappointing news. Indiffer
ent to the lessons of several thousand
years of human history and the moral
force of Judeo-Christian tradition, our

ingly legitimized homosexualconduct...
In the brokerage area, you can add
to the AFA: "MCl is offering special
discounts on long distance phone calls
to businesses owned by homosexuals.
MCl is using a direct mail campaign to
cross-promote with the National Gay
and Lesbian Business Alliance
(NGLBA), a new group the long dis
tance carrier helped found." With
homophobic horror,the AFA quotes'a
letter from an MCl account executive,

son of a Baptist preacher is found dead
in his apartment, it is up to Amanda to
sort out the facts. Bryce is the former
president of an Australian gay and les
bian broadcast firm that has recently
been beset by scandal.Bryce had disap
peared from Australia several months
mother had tracked him to New Zealand
with the help of a private detective and
his parents were in Wellington on the
day ofthe murder. Bryce's boyfriend,a
New Zealand football(as in soccer)star
found the body but is reluctant to help
the investigation because of the possi
bility of bad publicity.
In a second case, one of her detective s
roommates has been raped by two
women. One is a simple bully — the
other the daughter ofone of the wealthi

are believably flawed and very endear
ing. Add to that the exotic locale and
some very creative plot twists and viola!
