In 2016, the Herland Sister Resources donated their collection of rare books, periodicals, and music to the Women's Research Center and BGLTQ+ Student Center (The Center) at the University of Central Oklahoma to create the Herland Archive. Today, The Center continues to host circulating and non-circulating materials.

In 2022, the Herland Archive received a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to digitize non-circulating materials. Undergraduate and graduate students were employed by the grant over two years to digitize the periodicals displayed on this site. Metadata was also created by students.

This site serves as an entry point to the materials available at the Herland Archive and hosted on ShareOK. All digitized materials are available for open access on the ShareOK site. Oral history interviews are hosted on the Metropolitan Library System of Greater Oklahoma City's YouTube page
