Making Herland Happen
Sometimes people have asked us, "How many members are there in Herland?" Although many of you know that Herland, as
an organization, is composed entirely of volunteers, you may not realize that there are only seven board members at this time.
While these seven women contribute a lot, it would not be nearly enough to keep Herland and its many activities going.
Throughout the year many women (and a few men!) contribute hours of their time, energy, and hard work to keep Herland
going strong and we would like to recognize them and their contributions. Here are some of the people that form the true
community we call "Herland":
• Dorothee for the beautiful handmade quilt
• Peggy for singing at the Open House
•Diane for cataloging hundreds of books for the library
• Jean's Plumbing for fixing our plumbing problems
• Scott ofMechanical Technologies for keeping us in heatand air
• Dawn for the new logo, business card, and brochure
•Nancy and Elyse for the soon-to-be CD and the sound system cheerfully volunteered for retreats and other events
• Laura and Ginger for the new kitchen floor
• Natasha for the flowers in our yard
• Debbie for delivering the newsletter to the post office
•Linda for finding volunteers to staff the store
• Jingles and Deborah for cooking up breakfasts at the Retreats
~ •Deb and Partners for hosting the CD benefit
~ • Darenda for singing at the CD benefit
~ •Jeri for entertaining us
~~ • Kutchla, Wanda, Mary, Emily, Louise, Elyse, Nancy, and
Peggy for making music for the Spring fundraiser.
•Leigh for coordinating the Speaker's Bureau
•Deb and Julia and the Metro Men's Chorus for singing at the cookout
'-• Margy for sending out Retreat registrations
•Tex and Jane and Laura for painting the kitchen
• Pat for putting together each month's newsletter
•Jo, Rahel, Jill, Amanda, Jean, Susan, Rue, Jingles, Diane, Linda, Ginger,
Pat, Debbie, Margy, Natasha, Jeri and anyone else who worked a weekend shift at Herland.
•Jill for her great music reviews in the Voice
• St. Sybil for sharing her wisdom
• Everyone who made donations especially Dee, Jo, Margaret, and Renee their regular monthly checks
It's easy to volunteer at Herland. If you see something that needs doing, just do it! There' s still plenty to do-- building and
grounds maintenance, weekend shifts at Herland, writing for the newsletter, organizing social, cultural, and educational
events -- just to name a few. The Herland Board meets at 4:30 PM on the third Sunday of evey month. Drop by and share
your ideas.
