... the point
1999 has been a great year for TOHR and the upcoming year promises to hold even greater things for the organization, for you and for the
entire community.
The new year will once again be a year to remember. EQUALity is
the mission of Tulsa Oklahomans for Human Rights and the new millennium brings opportunities for each and every one of us. The presidential
elections are less than a year away and this election is of great importance as the next President of the United States will be selecting, in all
probability, at least two (2) Supreme Court justices. The Tulsa City Council elections are also coming up very shortly and it is important that knowledgeable people represent ALL of Tulsa rather than radical groups. In
addition to those issues, there continues to be ignorance and discrimination in Tulsa, not to mention all Oklahoma, which has to be addressed.
TOHR will be on the front lines in the coming months; educating our
community and the public on issues important to GLBT people, encouraging our officials to take a stand for EQUAL rights, as well as supporting
those organizations in town that continue to better our community.
However, the dream of EQUALity begins with YOU. Your support in
beth monetary gifts and giving of your time enables TOHR to continue the
efforts to realize the dream of justice and equality. Please consider the
difference YOU can make ,Yith a contribution towards EQUALity with a
year-end {tax-deductible) gift to Tulsa Oklahomans for Human Rights.
Your gift provides TOHR the resources to continue serving the community
with the operation of the Tulsa Gay Community Services Center, enables
TOHR to educate the general public on issues such as the need for ENDA
{Employment Non-Discrimination Act) and is an important step to creating
a truly unified community.
The coming year will be an exciting one for all of us. Wrth your help
as well as the help of your friends and family, the new millennium can also
be a powerful one in determining the future for all of us and for EQUALity!
Thank you. - the TOHR Board
TOHR ... helping the community
In the spirit of the upcoming Holiday season, Tulsa Oklahomans for
Human Rights is proud to be taking an active part in helping those in our
city who are in need or who may have fallen on temporary hard times.
The Tulsa CARES Food Pantry and the Day Center for the Homeless will
benefit from the efforts of those in the GLBT and GLBT friendly communities.
The Tulsa Gay Community Services Center, 1307 E 38th Street, is
the site for you, your friends and family, and all of those in our communty
to drop off terns such as non-perishable foods (canned meats, peanut
butter, canned vegetables, etc.), and toiletries {toothpaste, deodorant,
toilet tissue, etc.). Items will then be donated to both of these worthy organizations to help those in need.
Items will be accepted at the Center during the regular operating
hours through December 18th, 1999. The Tulsa Gay Community Services
Center (formerly the Pride Center) is open Sunday-Fnday: 6---9 pm and
Saturday: 12--9 pm. Please see the volunteer in the Pride Store or
someone in the TOHR office for more information and the exact location in
the Center for leaving your donations.

A new tradition in Tulsa is being presented by Tulsa Oklahomans for Human Rights as a gift for the entire city. The 181 Annual TOHR Hollday
Horne Tou- is scheduled for December 11, 1999 from 12 pm -5 pm. Homes across the downtown and midtown areas of town will be on the tour, bringing you an opportunity to see decorating ideas for this season as well as for the year round.
The homes on the inaugural TOHR Holiday Home tour include:
The home of Mr. Tim Williams and Mr. Randy Ritter Is located at 627 North Cheyenne Avenue. Tim and Randy"s home Is In the Brady
Heights Hlstorlcal District, Is on the National Registry of Historic Hornes and Is a fine example of early Tulsa architecture In the first historic

The home of Mr. Dennis Neill and Mr. John Southard Is also on the tOtr. Their home, located at 3019 South Boston Court, Is In the
Brookside area of town situated on a quiet tree lined street. Dennis and John"s home Is a beautiful and unique example of the homes found
In this popular area of town.
