WHY CAN'T WE BE
FRIENDS?
Dear Dimensions:
I would like to address an issue which
really surprises me and which I find to
be quite a shame; that many gay men
cannotcomprehend having a close rela
tionship with lesbians.
Over the last year or so, my lover and I
have become the best of friends with a
lesbian couple, and we feel like we have
never had more sincere friends. The
four of us have so much fun together,
doing everything from picnic outings
by the lake to relaxed dinners at each
other's homes. They are true friends
that we know we could turn to in a time
of need and they would be there —
which is more than I can say for the
many other gay men and lesbians feel
this way? Is itjust because these people
aren't sexually attracted to members of
the opposite sex thatthey feel they can't
socialize with them? I would find it
extremely ironic that our community
would choose to perpetuate our differ
ences rather than grow together in united
friendship. Not a day goes by that I
don't count my blessings for having
such wonderful,beautiful people in my
life as these two women.
I would be interested to hear further
comment on this issue from other
members ofthe gay community.Maybe

Dear Aci^s
Answers to your questions about love.
RELATIONSHIIPS & PERSONAL PROBLEMS
Dear Agnes,
I have a big problem. My lover was
recently arrested for dealing drugs. I
still love her very much but I am not
sure I want to stay with her.
I was aware that she occasionally did
some drugs, but I truly thought it was
only a"social" thing. I had no idea she
was dealing (and in large quantities).
She says she didn't tell me because she
knew I wouldn't approve and didn't
want me to leave her.
She has asked me to stick by her,but I
don'tknow ifI can.She has been hiding
the truth from me for so long I'm not
sure I can ever trust her again.
She has promised to"reform",to never
do or deal dmgs again. But, that is
damned hard to believe after all this.
This is the first time that she has ever
this serious, she can lie about anything.
I suspect she only "fessed up" because
she gotcaught.Consider yourselflucky
that you didn't wake up in jail, wonder

better.
Dear Agnes,
I would like to agree with the letter in
September's issue from "Hushed Up in

I have been a Dallas city resident for 7

This has gotten me to thinking — do
WHY CAN'T WE BE
FRIENDS?
Dear Dimensions:
I would like to address an issue which
really surprises me and which I find to
be quite a shame; that many gay men
cannotcomprehend having a close rela
tionship with lesbians.
Over the last year or so, my lover and I
have become the best of friends with a
lesbian couple, and we feel like we have
never had more sincere friends. The
four of us have so much fun together,
doing everything from picnic outings
by the lake to relaxed dinners at each
other's homes. They are true friends
that we know we could turn to in a time
of need and they would be there —
which is more than I can say for the
many other gay men and lesbians feel
this way? Is itjust because these people
aren't sexually attracted to members of
the opposite sex thatthey feel they can't
socialize with them? I would find it
extremely ironic that our community
would choose to perpetuate our differ
ences rather than grow together in united
friendship. Not a day goes by that I
don't count my blessings for having
such wonderful,beautiful people in my
life as these two women.
I would be interested to hear further
comment on this issue from other
members ofthe gay community.Maybe

Two ofthe problems indigenous to this

The next meeting of the NLC-Gulf

Dear Aci^s
Answers to your questions about love.
RELATIONSHIIPS & PERSONAL PROBLEMS
Dear Agnes,
I have a big problem. My lover was
recently arrested for dealing drugs. I
still love her very much but I am not
sure I want to stay with her.
I was aware that she occasionally did
some drugs, but I truly thought it was
only a"social" thing. I had no idea she
was dealing (and in large quantities).
She says she didn't tell me because she
knew I wouldn't approve and didn't
want me to leave her.
She has asked me to stick by her,but I
don'tknow ifI can.She has been hiding
the truth from me for so long I'm not
sure I can ever trust her again.
She has promised to"reform",to never
do or deal dmgs again. But, that is
damned hard to believe after all this.
This is the first time that she has ever
this serious, she can lie about anything.
I suspect she only "fessed up" because
she gotcaught.Consider yourselflucky
that you didn't wake up in jail, wonder
ing how you got there. You deserve
better.
Dear Agnes,
I would like to agree with the letter in
September's issue from "Hushed Up in
San Antonio".
I have been a Dallas city resident for 7
years, 3 of those 7 spent in the Oak
Lawn area. In those three years,

Black Lace
You wore black lace i wore my heart
i followed you but kept my distance
you never looked back
my secret was safe
you never had to say no
i told you i cared i told you i love you
you said hurry back i did
you wore black lace i wore my heart
you loved me in McCormick in Indiana in my bed
hidden secrets stolen touches
his house his wife his child his bed
Second guessing Second chances Second thoughts
you said we were friends
you still love me
you wore black lace i wore my heart
i still love you.

WHY CAN'T WE BE
FRIENDS?
Dear Dimensions:
I would like to address an issue which
really surprises me and which I find to
be quite a shame; that many gay men
cannotcomprehend having a close rela
tionship with lesbians.
Over the last year or so, my lover and I
have become the best of friends with a
lesbian couple, and we feel like we have
never had more sincere friends. The
four of us have so much fun together,
doing everything from picnic outings
by the lake to relaxed dinners at each
other's homes. They are true friends
that we know we could turn to in a time
of need and they would be there —
which is more than I can say for the
many other gay men and lesbians feel
this way? Is itjust because these people
aren't sexually attracted to members of
the opposite sex thatthey feel they can't
socialize with them? I would find it
extremely ironic that our community
would choose to perpetuate our differ
ences rather than grow together in united
friendship. Not a day goes by that I
don't count my blessings for having
such wonderful,beautiful people in my
life as these two women.
I would be interested to hear further
comment on this issue from other
members ofthe gay community.Maybe

Dear Aci^s
Answers to your questions about love.
RELATIONSHIIPS & PERSONAL PROBLEMS
Dear Agnes,
I have a big problem. My lover was
recently arrested for dealing drugs. I
still love her very much but I am not
sure I want to stay with her.
I was aware that she occasionally did
some drugs, but I truly thought it was
only a"social" thing. I had no idea she
was dealing (and in large quantities).
She says she didn't tell me because she
knew I wouldn't approve and didn't
want me to leave her.
She has asked me to stick by her,but I
don'tknow ifI can.She has been hiding
the truth from me for so long I'm not
sure I can ever trust her again.
She has promised to"reform",to never
do or deal dmgs again. But, that is
damned hard to believe after all this.
This is the first time that she has ever
this serious, she can lie about anything.
I suspect she only "fessed up" because
she gotcaught.Consider yourselflucky
that you didn't wake up in jail, wonder

better.
Dear Agnes,
I would like to agree with the letter in
September's issue from "Hushed Up in
San Antonio".
I have been a Dallas city resident for 7
years, 3 of those 7 spent in the Oak

Travel Guide
Most of us don't get away for a "big" vacation every year. We take our vacations in
bits and pieces on long weekends and over holidays. As a result, this travel article is
going to focus on some places to go and things to do in the Dimensions distribution
area. There's more to do in your own backyard than you may realize.
