NOLOSE
Dot Tonier has announced the formation of the National
Organization of Lesbians of Size (NOLOSE). She describes
NOLOSE as " A support, social and networking group for
women who identify as lesbians and who are fat, or fat
positive. Although the Size Acceptance movement strives to
embrace all people of size and their allies, there are needs
which can only be met from within the lesbian community,
and this is the challenge which NOLOSE is set to meet::
NOLOSE will offer a sympathetic and empathetic network through which women can connect locally and nationally to seek support, friendship, and empowerment -even
romance-through a variety of programs.
~rograms offered by NOLOSE include a quarterly newsletter, a pen-pal program, a national directory of lesbian and
lesbian-friendly support groups and resources and national
personal ads.
More information about NOLOSE can be found at their

- IN REVIEW
by Jill Gamer
Wow, what a month for music! Here are a few of the
happenings you might want to know about.
June 11th -Alison Krauss and Union Station - Brady
Theater, Tulsa
If you' re an Alison Krauss fan, you should catch this
show. I've seen Alison and her band perform live a couple of
times, and besides all being very talented musicians, they're
fun to watch. All the band members are accomplished
musicians in their own right and if you listen to any of Alison
Krauss' CDs, you'll see why. She has a beautiful voice and
is a great fiddle player, but she shares the spotlight on CDs
and in live shows with the rest ofthe band, which is often rare
in many genres of music. They're all a team, and should all
get attention. If you like bluegrass even just a little, you'll
love this show. Alison has delved into country a little bit but
her heart lies in bluegrass and she and her band are good at
it!
June 12 - Sara Hickman - Rockys, OKC
The Blue Door is bringing Sara Hickman to Rocky's in
Bricktown in support of her new release, Two Kinds of
Laughter . I've seen Sara perform live a couple oftimes and
she draws quite an enthusiastic crowd, and for good reason!
Sara is warm and funny and she puts on an entertaining show.
And with her wonderful voice and great songwriting, what
more could anyone want?
June 13 - Caroline Aiken - City Arts Center
Atlanta based performer Caroline Aiken will perform at
the City Arts Center. Credited with inspiring the Indigo Girls
to make their profession in the music business, Aiken has a
voice reminiscent ofJanis Joplin (without the screaming) and
it's wonderfully rich. She has a way of saying things simply
in creatively, unique ways. Don'tmiss it, unless you'll be out
of town like me. One ofthe best shows to come to OKC in a
while, and I'll miss it. Oh, life isn't fair!
June 27th- Carrie Newcomer at City Arts Center
Don't miss this show! Carrie Newcomer is one of those
talented women who writes beautiful songs and has a voice to
die for. She is now backed up by a wonderful band and is
touring in support of her new album, My True Name. I've
seen her live before and she had me mesmerized, melting into
her words and oh, that voice. Wow.

Indigo Girls, Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant,
Me'Shelle Ndegeocello, Sinead O'Connor, and Martina
McBride. Sounds like a night to remember to me! I've been
told the concert will start around 4 pm and go on through most
of the night. You've seen it on VHl, now see all these
performers right here in OKC!
Check the OK Gazette for phone numbers to get more
information about any of these shows.Cl
