Twice in your letter you mention
being 51. The second time you said,"
so what happened to all that now that
I am 51?" This attitude is definitely
something that you should explore
with a counselor. Yes, lesbians, gay
men, and our American culture in
general put too much emphasis on
being young and beautiful. No one
wants to grow old and 51 is not old,
but from the tone of your letter
sounds as if you are convinced that 51

As a counselor, you must also realize
that self-love is of primary
importance to everyone's emotional
well-being. You have got to love
yourself first and it is not realistic to
change into something or someone
you are not to be loved. It does not
work. If you are not happy with
yourself how can you expect to
anyone else to be? People must love
someone for what they are.
You need to concentrate on the
positive
aspects
of
your
life;
specifically your profession, and the
negative

overwhelming. Continue to work on
your workshops, the worst thing you
can do is nothing. There are worse
things than living alone. One of them
is living in a bad relationship.
