A feminist and LGBTQ+ collection located in Edmond, Oklahoma
Creating an Archive
Although the East and West coasts of the country are known for their large communities of LGBTQ+ folk and activism, Herland Archive's collection demonstrates the significant networks of community within the central U.S. The map below confirms that the majority of the archive's material comes from this region. Thanks to the lesbian feminist organization, the Herland Sister Resources, our archive provides a record of local and less well-documented LGBTQ+ and feminist history. This exhibit showcases some of these important artifacts from states in Middle America, broadly defined.
